Best Super Bowl 2008 Commercial
Feb 4th
My favorite Super Bowl XLII commercial, by far I might add, was the Budweiser Clydesdale team tryout commercial with the Dalmation trainer and played to the tune of the Rocky theme. The ending was perfect and made this one a commercial to remember.
Budweiser was surely the biggest spender on advertising during the Super Bowl this year, easily racking up over ten million dollars in ads over the course of the game.

Here’s a great clip of comedian Katt Williams doing a routine to the “Everyday I’m Hustlin” track by Rick Ross.
Funniest Viral Videos Of 2007
Dec 30th
2007 was filled with a lot of drama, just like most every year before it. But cutting through all that crap were things that make you stop and laugh. Some of the funniest things can be found on social networking sites such as YouTube.
The Landlord
Soulja Boy Ballet
Dramatic Chipmunk
Miss Teen USA – South Carolina
So that’s the best of 2007. No matter how many times I watch The Landlord video I have to keep replaying it again and again… I think that will go down as one of the best Internet videos of all-time.

Don't Tase Me, Bro!
Dec 20th
The phrase “Don’t Tase Me, Bro”, spoken by a college student getting kicked out of a John Kerry speech was named the best quote of 2007 by the Yale Book of Quotations.
Some runners up included Don Imus’ now infamous reference to the Rutgers women’s basketball team, the South Carolina Miss Teen USA contestant who gave a most incomprehensible answer to why 20% of Americans can’t locate the US on a map and comments made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, Alberto Gonzalez, Joe Biden and Larry Craig to name a few.

Domain Names With Double Meanings
Dec 18th
This post over at Midascode will make you chuckle and look at every website you visit a little more closely. It turns out even the most benign domain name could have an unfortunate, albeit hilarious alternate translation.
Here’s a sampling of the full list:
ExpertsExchange.com –> ExpertSexchange.com
WhoRepresents.com –> WhorePresents.com
TherapistFinder.com –> TheRapistFinder.com
PenIsland.net –> PenisLand.net
ChooseSpain.com –> ChoosesPain.com
GoTahoe.com –> GotAHoe.com
So the lesson to takeaway from this newfound wisdom? Think long and hard about all the different words that can be spelled with that new domain you want to buy.

Magellan Maestro 3200
Nov 18th

My first holiday purchase this year is a Magellan Maestro 3200 Auto Navigation System
. I will be traveling to Nashville the weekend of Thanksgiving and this should come in handy. It’s a great deal at under $170, a full $100 off retail. My new job will most likely require a significant amount of travel all over the country and this GPS unit should come in quite handy.
“Affordable, ultra-thin and amazingly easy to use, the Magellan Maestro 3200 enables you to find virtually anywhere in seconds without reading the instructions! The simple touch-screen menu presents easy options in brilliant color! The large 3.5″ touch screen shows your position on the interactive map, plus distance to the next turn, distance to destination, ETA, street names and more, all at a glance. Voice guidance offers worry-free driving with turn-by-turn directions so you can keep your eyes on the road. Easily find your way around town or from Florida to Washington with built-in maps of the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. 1.3 million pre-programmed Points of Interest (POI) enable you to search and select nearby services, and recreation and business locations. Find gas stations, restaurants, ATMs and more. Phone numbers are included (when available) so you can call ahead for information and reservations. The SiRFstarIII GPS receiver and built-in high-sensitivity antenna provide the fastest position acquisition in the industry for reliable navigation. QuickSpell intelligently searches and checks spelling so you can enter your destination with just few touches of the screen. SmartDetour prompts you to route around sudden slow freeway traffic. The integrated rechargeable battery provides cable-free navigation for up to three hours. Ultra-thin, pocket-sized, wireless and fully self-contained; take your Magellan Maestro anywhere for easy navigation! Auto night view – Adjusts color and contrast for easy night viewing SD-card compatibility – Back up your address book Digital music player – Listen to MP3 and WMA audio files from your own SD cards through the integrated speaker or standard headphone jack. “
While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like text to speech capability, it’s a couple hundred dollars cheaper than those models. The 3200 just came out in September, so it’s still relatively new itself and the unit is amazingly thin, less than an inch in fact.
So, purchase number one is down… I’m not quite sure how many more to go but I’ll keep you posted on the good deals I uncover along the way!

Wal-Mart Black Friday 2007 Deals
Nov 18th
I was able to procure a copy of the Wal-Mart Black Friday circular, but won’t be posting it here due to Wal-Mart’s legal threats regarding the matter. However I will share with you the deals I will be trying to grab at my local Wal-Mart this upcoming Friday. The sale is from 5am -11am, however I know that at my Wal-Mart they continue selling the non-regular, one-time offer merchandise in the blitz sale until it is sold out.

- Kodak Z710 7MP Digital Camera – $149

That is the extent of the items that I may be interested in, primarily electronics and movies. There will also be secret sale items being announced periodically throughout the weekend by e-mail or text messages.
When you pick up the Black Friday sales flyer, there is a coupon on the back for those who use their Wal-Mart credit card. It offers no interest for 18 months on purchases of $250 or more. Your purchase would be limited to whatever Wal-Mart determines your credit limit to be, so if you decide to sign up they will just need your drivers license and a current credit card. Give them the card with the highest limit to better your chances for a high limit Wal-Mart card as well.
Happy Shopping!

Holiday Shopping 2007
Nov 17th
This coming week kicks off the holiday shopping season for 2007 and retailers across the country are preparing for all out war on Friday, the first day after Thanksgiving. I plan to be out in the trenches Friday morning to see what kind of deals I can pick up. Most retailers aren’t posting their sales circulars until later in the week, but you can find most of them have leaked onto various Black Friday websites. One notable exception is Wal-Mart, who had their legal firm send out preemptive threats to all the Black Friday websites warning them not to post any Wal-Mart ads before the company releases it or face litigation.
Well, with a little bit of ingenuity I was able to track down a leaked Wal-Mart circular and taken a look at some of the deals inside which I’ll get to in a later post. Wal-Mart is where I usually end up on Black Friday, because they usually have the best electronics specials. I am hoping to score a high definition LCD television and an XBOX 360.
For those of you that are not interested in fighting off kung-fu trained mothers at your local retailer, many online retailers are offering special limited quantity sales.
Amazon is currently letting users vote on what holiday deals they would like best, and the prices are great. Here’s a list of some of the items up for grabs:
- 1,000 Nintendo Wii Game Systems (see prices on Customers Vote page)
- 500 Panasonic 7.5MP Digital SLR Cameras, $499 (*normally $1,149.95)
- 1,000 Razor E100 Electric Scooters for $29 (*normally $89.99)
- 500 TiVo HD Digital Video Recorders, $89 (*normally $253.48)
- 500 Magellan Maestro 3140 Portable Auto GPS Systems, $99 (*normally $247.00)
- 200 Samsung 46” 1080p LCD HDTVs, $719 (*normally $1,899.98)
Amazon will be randomly selecting registered shopper between November 22 and 28 to buy the items above (as well as many others) at the super reduced prices. So head over there and get signed up.
I have added a widget on the sidebar that will display the latest and greatest deals this holiday shopping season so you can take advantage when a good one shows up.

Top Chef Miami Reunion Tonight!
Oct 10th

The contestants of Top Chef Miami will be dishing about the behind the scenes action from their culinary competition during a reunion show being broadcast tonight at 10pm Eastern on Bravo. The promo clips being shown on Bravo this week definitely look interesting as the contestants seem to bash on Hung and his lack of kitchen etiquette. I can’t wait to catch the show and see who wins as the audience favorite for a special $10,000 prize.

Buffet Madness
Oct 7th
I decided to take a little road trip to the Four Winds Casino on Saturday and had a good time playing craps, and won a couple hundred dollars too. But the one disappointing part of the night was when I was all finished at the tables around 10pm I decided to grab a bite to eat and remembered I had a buffet comp on my players card.
I took a stroll to the buffet area and to my horror the line literally stretched from the buffet lobby all the way out to about 10 feet in front of the parking garage entrance. This wasn’t any normal single file line either, it was three to four people wide. I’m thinking this is crazy for 10pm at night isn’t it? This being my first weekend jaunt to the casino I guess I was in for a surprise. They were only taking reservations and for the little while I watched it looked like the wait was easily an hour, if not more.
So I decided to just hit the Timbers cafe at the back of the casino and get a burger and fries instead of waiting all night to get into the buffet. I did happen to notice that prices were raised on nearly everything at the casino. Alcohol at the gaming tables went up to $2.50 and the buffet is now a jaw dropping $22 for dinner. I certainly wouldn’t pay that price cash, only if it is comped. It seems easy enough to get a comp by just asking a dealer to have a casino host come by about a buffet comp. I haven’t been turned down yet. I’ve tried it once at Four Winds and once at Blue Chip.
I have come to realize that the amount of points I earn from my craps play sucks at Four Winds. When I play at Soaring Eagle in Mt Pleasant I earn enough comps for a free buffet on every trip I make there, but at Four Winds I’m lucky to earn $1 worth of comps for playing $10 Min. craps all day. I’m beginning to think they’ve rated my play or I just don’t understand their comp system. But right now it seems a hell of a lot easier to earn comps playing $1 slots for an hour than buying in for $500 at the craps table and playing for 6-8 hours straight.
