Diddy Whines About Gas Prices

In an absolutely disgusting display of arrogance, Sean “Diddy” Combs is complaining about high gas prices grounding his private jet because he can’t afford it anymore. His cross-country jaunts from Los Angeles to New York were costing about $200,000 round-trip each month and he’s finally had enough and is flying commercial, while no doubt saving a nice chunk of change in the process.

Diddy made a request to the Middle East to send him free gas so he can continue to fly in a private jet… that’s just wrong on so many levels. But now Diddy’s YouTube account is saying the video was just a joke and not to be taken seriously. Pretty sad joke if you ask me.

Happy 50th Birthday Michael Jackson

It’s hard to believe that Michael Jackson is celebrating his 50th birthday today, 25 years after the release of his record shattering album Thriller. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson’s music and he is surely one of the most talented musicians I’ll experience in my lifetime. Michael was born August 29, 1958.

Despite all the drama and controversy that has clouded his life over the last few years, his ability to entertain the masses is undeniable and it’s too bad that most people’s opinon of him as an artist is tainted by the way the media reports his life.

I’ve heard a lot about an upcoming album but have yet to see any definite release date.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Continue Moving Up

Fannie (FNM) and Freddie (FRE) have had one helluva great rally over the last few trading sessions despite a very choppy market, including one day that saw the dow lose well over 200 points.

Fannie Mae is up about 70% since last week Thursday when it traded as low as 3.82 and now sits at 5.94 per share. Freddie Mac traded as low as 2.61 that same Thursday and is now up about 65% to 4.37. Unfortunately I called the move up in Fannie and Freddie too early, posting about it on August 18. For those who got in on a long position on the 21st you’ve made a great deal of money, but the losses suffered on the 18-20th were very substantial and only now recovering.

One has to wonder how much further these stocks can continue to climb. S&P has cut Freddie’s preferred stock rating to BBB- abut is also seeing stronger demand for its recent one-month bill offering.

No More Lunch Trays

On my first trip to the cafeteria at school the other day I noticed that there were no lunch trays. Upon sitting down at a table I noticed a sign that talked about how the school is drastically reducing its carbon footprint by abolishing the plastic lunch trays. I was intrigued at this point and have pondered the information on and off.

Then today I came across an article on CNN that talked about the exact same topic of lunch trays and that it is a growing nationwide movement in college cafeterias. It turns out that each lunch tray requires about 1/3-1/2 a gallon of water to wash, in addition to the detergent. So add that up over the approximately 9,000 students on my campus and you’ll see it’s not small potatos.

The CNN article interviews several students about the change and it sounds like for the most part they don’t like it. But I disagree. I am all for a change like this that will lower our waste and in effect keep costs down as well. Every college student in the nation knows that tuition and fees are spiraling out of control and if this is a way to help the environment and save some money, lets do it.

Another benefit to this is that students are eating and throwing away less food. This could be a very noble effort at reducing or eliminating the “freshman 15″. The eyes are almost always bigger than the stomach when you are presented with an endless buffet of all kinds of food.

For those students who just can’t do without a lunch tray when piling on exorbitant amounts of food, just use one of your oversized and grossly overpriced college textbooks to balance all those calories.

Professional Web Design

I am the type of person that doesn’t want to bother with design, simply because I’m no good at it and would rather work on the content or overall project. So, because of this preference I find it useful to seek out professional web design for certain complex projects.

You have most likely heard of Network Solutions, a company that built its presence on the web by selling domain names in the early days. They are now offering professional, custom web design packages that require no skills from you whatsoever, because they do it all.

They have successfully designed over 2,000 websites and are looking for more clients to build a professional  and affordable web presence. Prices start at $499 and up depending on the level of work you want done. I really like some of the premium website design packages they are offering because they include one on one work with a professional designer, phone consultations, search engine friendly design, copywriting and more.

All of the designers that will be working on your project are U.S. based and full-time. So you don’t have to worry about your important project being lost in translation by some outsourcing service. You also will have peace of mind knowing that a customer service professional is available 24/7 to assist you once your site is up and running should you have any issues.

Proxy Season Is Back

So with the school year starting up for students all over the country, and world – the earnings on my proxies have risen about five fold. Unblock YouTube is performing especially well bringing in around $5 per day for the last week.

I keep scouting for more good proxy domains but they are very hard to come by. My YouTube proxy ranks number one in Google for many related search terms and generates hundreds of visits that way each day. But the others do not garner anywhere near that level of traffic without substantial advertising.

I am looking forward to a profitable school year especially since I will not be working in a traditional job during the academic year. I am actively searching for profitable proxies with unique domain names to purchase for about 6 months worth of provable earnings. So, if you happen to have one (or many), do let me know.

Moving To College

I’ve been MIA around the blogosphere over the last few days while I move into my new apartment at school. I think I’ve finally gotten settled and organized and ready for my first class Monday morning – Intro to Anthropology. It’s a general education class and most definitely not related to my Finance and Economics major.

Once I get oriented to my new schedule I’ll be sure to add more content to the blog. I have also just registered the domain name 23yearoldfreshman.com which I will be designing and launching next month. It will be geared toward the non-traditional student who chooses to begin or finish college later than most due to life situations or choices, such as I have had occur in mine. But as most everyone I know has told me, better late than never.
