There is a report that came out listing the salaries of some notable world leaders. It’s interesting to see such a large disparity between these presidents, prime ministers, and other dignitaries.
| Salaries of World Leaders | |||
| Country | Title | Name | Approximate Salary |
| Bolivia | President | Evo Morales | $21,600 |
| Great Britain | Prime Minister | Gordon Brown | $375,222 |
| France | President | Nicolas Sarkozy | $346,000 |
| Germany | Chancellor | Angela Merkel | $318,000 |
| Ireland | Prime Minister | Bertie Ahern | $434,000 |
| Japan | Prime Minister | Shinzo Abe | $248,500 |
| Russia | President | Vladimir Putin | $81,000 |
| Singapore | Premier | Lee Hsien Loong | $2.05 million |
| United States | President | George W. Bush | $400,000 |
| United States | Vice President | Dick Cheney | $208,575 |
The most noted exception in the group is the Premier of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, who makes over $2,000,000 per year in salary alone. On the other end of the spectrum is the $21,600 annual salary of Evo Morales, the President of Bolivia. Although the immense generosity of Morales is a good trait for a leader, the law of Bolivia states that everyone in the government must make less than the President, so the salary cut has effected the livelihoods of many Bolivian politicos.
One thing the report doesn’t point out is the fringe benefits of these leaders which include massive security details, multiple residences, vehicles, food, clothing, and everything else they need to function in their capacity as a world leader. Now that report would be quite stunning.
