I decided to take a little road trip to the Four Winds Casino on Saturday and had a good time playing craps, and won a couple hundred dollars too. But the one disappointing part of the night was when I was all finished at the tables around 10pm I decided to grab a bite to eat and remembered I had a buffet comp on my players card.

I took a stroll to the buffet area and to my horror the line literally stretched from the buffet lobby all the way out to about 10 feet in front of the parking garage entrance. This wasn’t any normal single file line either, it was three to four people wide. I’m thinking this is crazy for 10pm at night isn’t it? This being my first weekend jaunt to the casino I guess I was in for a surprise. They were only taking reservations and for the little while I watched it looked like the wait was easily an hour, if not more.

So I decided to just hit the Timbers cafe at the back of the casino and get a burger and fries instead of waiting all night to get into the buffet. I did happen to notice that prices were raised on nearly everything at the casino. Alcohol at the gaming tables went up to $2.50 and the buffet is now a jaw dropping $22 for dinner. I certainly wouldn’t pay that price cash, only if it is comped. It seems easy enough to get a comp by just asking a dealer to have a casino host come by about a buffet comp. I haven’t been turned down yet. I’ve tried it once at Four Winds and once at Blue Chip.

I have come to realize that the amount of points I earn from my craps play sucks at Four Winds. When I play at Soaring Eagle in Mt Pleasant I earn enough comps for a free buffet on every trip I make there, but at Four Winds I’m lucky to earn $1 worth of comps for playing $10 Min. craps all day. I’m beginning to think they’ve rated my play or I just don’t understand their comp system. But right now it seems a hell of a lot easier to earn comps playing $1 slots for an hour than buying in for $500 at the craps table and playing for 6-8 hours straight.
